Sleep Deprivation aka Nerves

It's 2:15 and I'm awake still. These past few months have really taken a toll on me. Working insane hours, planning, replying to countless emails, getting gear, and planning the details for my Pacific Crest Trail hike has been very draining.

Tomorrow... well I suppose that's today now, I'll drive back to San Diego. Then it's Thursday aka "The Last Day," and then I leave.

My nerves have been going insane. My stomach is constantly doing backflips. I'm so excited I just can't wait to be out there already.

I had a photo shoot today w David Orozco and it was fabulous. He's a good friend and when he found out what I was doing he wanted to help me be able to document my journey. I had a blast and I am so appreciative of you David. You ROCK! Here's a shot from today : )

I am so thankful for my Mom and Dad. You guys have been so helpful. My Pops has been slaving away packaging food for me, and making meals. Dad, you are amazing and I am so happy and glad that I'm your daughter. Good job Ballsy (he has a great nickname right? like father like daughter) Mom, thank you for all of your support. You've been there through all the emotions and planning and everything. You're absolutely wonderful and you're gonna do great w my resupply drops! Relax. I'm the one out there doing the hard part, these boxes are just little extras. : )  haha

My UCLA speaking got postponed on account of a rescheduled meeting. I was a little bummed, but then again that means I can have a full "relaxing" day Thursday... "the last day."

I can't believe it's already here. I feel like I've been planning for ages. I just can't wait to be out there! Ahhhh : P

  2. Not for nothing is sleep deprivation employed as a torture technique -- it is literally torture! I feel for you Sara, as a fellow insomniac, but I bet you'll sleep better once you start lugging that big green thing around on your back all day.
Enjoy your last day of civilization girl! I will of course be following your blog, not because I'm that interested in this undertaking of yours, which I consider utterly insane and pointless, but because "0 comments" just makes a blog look so, I dunno, lame?

  3. I guess it's time. I have watched you progress up to this point and I look forward to hearing from and about your trek. It is quite an endeavor and I guess if you are going to do something like this - now is the time. Best of luck on the trail Sara.

  5. Sara, I tried posting a comment here earlier and it didn't seem to work. Maybe I failed the "capcha" test or something, who knows. I do know that you will succeed at anything you put your dome-piece too.
As for sleep deprivation, it's no accident that this is considered a form of torture, just like waterboarding. I haven't gotten a decent night's sleep in 13 years, so I can definitely empathize with your experience. I hope that the fresh air, along with that big blue carcass you're lugging around there, will prove an effective soporific!

    1. "papa jaws"- Her service has been "sketchy" and I know she has said this is the hardest thing she has ever done, however she is exhausted. I am looking forward to hooking up with her Very Soon- can't wait. I will tell her to check her site and get your message. Thanks. Mom

  9. Thanks to all of you out there reading and following the posts! I get to see her soon!!! Can you tell I am excited?
I talked to her a couple times this week. It has been so hard not talking to this incredible young woman who is out ther "Living HER life". She is in good spirits and having the time of her life. She encourages us all by her example to "Live OUR own life". I'll let you know more after my visit (aka hike) with her & hopefully will post some photos. Let's keep her in our prayers and thanks for sending encouraging words for her.
